Rubber and sponge cord, often referred to as 'rubber rope or sponge rope', is commonly used in various types of sealing applications where the exact size moulded O-ring is not available. We offer a range of rubber cords manufactured from EPDM, neoprene, nitrile, silicone and Viton® 'A' that can be joined together using various adhesives (available to purchase separately). Our standard availability for rubber cord ranges from 1mm to 40mm* in diameter and, dependent on the material, can be used in a range of industries such as the automotive, aeronautical, chemical, electrical, environmental, petrochemical and food and pharmaceutical. We can also supply other diameters, coil sizes, rubber materials and scarf jointed vulcanised O-rings upon request.
Our range of closed cell sponge cords are available in two material options that provide different characteristics; neoprene and silicone. These materials are much easier to compress and manipulate compared to the rubber alternatives and can also be used in internal or external environments. Common applications for silicone sponge rubber cord include; high temperature seals for door and ovens, external electrical seals and food processing machinery seals. Neoprene sponge cord is commonly used as an effective seal to prevent against gas, liquid and dust escaping when machinery is in operation or as an alternative to foam backer rod.
Many other materials and sizes of rubber and sponge cord can be manufactured to your requirements.
